What Chicago's city garbage pickup will take
Before you pay anyone to haul something away, it is worth knowing what the City of Chicago's regular garbage service will take. Here is what we could confirm from official sources: the city's own site or its hauler's page for Chicago's Southwest Side, linked under each rule.
Who collects the garbage
The city's Department of Streets and Sanitation (Bureau of Sanitation) collects weekly, Monday through Friday, from single-family homes and apartment buildings of four units or less. Citywide rule, so it covers Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park.
Exact wording: “The Bureau of Sanitation collects residential garbage from approximately 600,000 households in Chicago. Pick-ups are weekly, Mondays through Fridays. City crews service all single-family residences and apartment buildings of four units or less.”
